New Zealand, Dec. 2004

cameras do not do new zealand justice.

anyway, we had a shit tour guide who was more interested in taking pictures and being touristy than.. well, guiding. he kept talking about the south island, when we were touring the NORTH island. he is also, really not funny. think about the guy from high school who didn't know any jokes not involving porn. yea. really. and wouldn't shut up. now, think 46.
that's how annoying he was.

we only started to have fun we mutinied in the second last day or something, armed ourselves with brochures and took over the tour ourselves with the bus driver.

anyway, travellers, i suggest you skip the tours (unless maybe if you're with excellent or some other company that specialises in nz) and go caravaning for a couple of months instead. MUCH more fun that way. and less chinese food with overcooked fish.

Shanghai, China : 2005

also, you'll notice ive been trying to finish this off since january lol. go me.

in case you can't read it, the engrish on the menu, and they aspire highly :

OUR THEORY

1. Bring happiness and health to everyone
2. Aromatic and incomparable, the feeling is deep and limitless
3. The customer is our god (you only say that because we pay you)
4. It is our bounden duty to serve
5. Guide consumption, propagate the civilisation (HAHAHAHAHAHA. nevermind.)

big words. big words.

in the hotel room, my emergency exit map commands me to 'disperse this way'

and people don't lock their toilet doors here. and their tissue ends up ANYWHERE but the provided waste paper basket.
in one rest stop, the toilet was ... well, a longkang. it was clean and stainless steel, with doors, but it was essentially, a LONGKANG running through all the stalls. i could see all the products from the people in the other stalls. i would have taken a picture but my dad's camera was too noisy heh.

thassal. coming up, huge ass nz photos.
